Quincey Gary is having a strong start to the 2017 volleyball season for Alabama. The league announced that she won SEC Defensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week on Tuesday.
Gary has won the award twice in her career now and she becomes the first Alabama player to win the award twice in the same week since Amy Pauly who did so in 2006 and 2008.
“Quincey Gary has just been putting on a show the first month of the season, really happy with her performance,” said head coach Ed Allen.
A junior from Alexandria, Ind., Gary has gotten at least 20 kills in three of her last six matches, including 23 digs against the Hofstra Pride on Friday, in a three-set victory for the Crimson Tide. Gary was named to the Hampton Inn Bama Bash All-Tournament team last weekend.
Alabama will be back in action on Tuesday with a match against Samford, in Birmingham, Ala.
