The Crimson Tide finished the 2010 season ranked No. 10 in the AP Top 25 poll. After going 10-3 and finishing its season with an impressive 49-7 Capital One Bowl victory over Michigan State, the Tide finished the season by moving into the top 10 from No. 15.
Six Southeastern Conference teams finished in the top 25, with five of those teams in the top 15. All five of those teams finishing in the top 15 are from the SEC West. The only team from the SEC East in the top 25 is South Carolina, falling in at No. 22.
The teams from the West Division are No. 1 Auburn, No. 8 LSU, No. 10 Alabama, No. 12 Arkansas and No. 15 Mississippi State.
