For the first time ever, work by the art faculty of both the University and UAB is being displayed together. A joint exhibition in in Dinah Washington Cultural Arts Center in downtown Tuscaloosa features a variety of work from 22 professors, including painters, sculptors and printmakers.
The idea for a collaboration between the two schools was conceived of by UA professor Craig Wedderspoon and UAB professors Stacy Holloway and Gary Chapman. Wedderspoon said he would like to increase collaborations between the two schools, and, in the future, have a triple show featuring work from all the colleges in the University of Alabama system.
The exhibit includes paintings by William Dooley, prints by Sarah Marshall, paintings and drawings by Chapman and sculpture by Holloway and Wedderspoon. It is located at Dinah Washington’s University of Alabama gallery, which hosts work from faculty and pieces from the University’s collection all year. The exhibit is open to the public for free from 9 a.m. –– 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
