Senior infielder Leona Lafaele isn’t have much trouble seeing the ball. In her first at-bat Wednesday night, she crushed a two-run home run just fair in No. 4 Alabama softball’s 4-2 win over South Alabama.

“I was like, ‘Please call it fair, please call it fair,’” Lafaele said. “I was like, ‘You don’t really know because it’s so high over the pole, like just give it to me.’”

Alabama had six hits. Lafaele was the only Alabama batter with a multi-hit night. Over the last five games, she is 7-13 with five home runs.

Junior right-hander Sydney Littlejohn (18-3) picked up the win after pitching 4 1/3 innings. She allowed two runs on four hits and struck out four. Sophomore right-hander Alexis Osorio earned her fifth save of the season after pitching 2 2/3 innings of relief. She allowed one hit and struck out seven.

“Sydney really only threw one bad pitch,” Alabama coach Patrick Murphy said. “Lexi looked really good. Between the two there was no walks, 11 strikeouts so that was a very good thing. And I bragged about them at [Texas] A&M and then we had too many walks at A&M, but tonight looked like two weeks ago so that was good to see.”

No. 4 Alabama (39-8, 10-5 SEC) hosts No. 11 Kentucky (38-9, 13-5 SEC) for a three-game series starting Friday at 6:30 p.m. This weekend is alumni weekend as the team celebrates its 20th anniversary.
