The students of The University of Alabama have come to know the food that Zoe’s Kitchen has to offer, and the former CEO, also a former Crimson Tide football running back, John Cassimus, has decided to open another restaurant called Miss Dots.
Miss Dots is a casual Southern restaurant with two locations, one at 1715 University Blvd. in Tuscaloosa, and the other at 49 Church St. in Mountain Brook.
Cassimus has quite a bit of experience in the restaurant business. He now owns and operates five Maki Fresh Asian restaurants, two Jinsei Sushi restaurants and took over Zoe’s Kitchen from his parents, according to al.com.
This past year, Cassimus and his business partner, Tyre Stuckey, have devoted their time developing Miss Dots. The whole idea came from Leola Rodgers, who is portrayed as “Miss Dot”.
“She has spent the last seven years working at my farm,” Cassimus said. “Once we start cooking together, she combined her deep Southern roots to teach me how to make fried chicken and all her other dishes from scratch.”
Other than fried chicken, the menu includes other Southern classics like collard greens, baked chicken, pork tenderloin and much more, according to Cassimus.
“The ticket time is three minutes or less, not to mention it’s all under ten dollars” said Cassimus.
Cassimus said he is eager to have all of the students check Miss Dots out.
