Alabama sophomore cornerback Geno Smith was arrested for driving under the influence, according to the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office website. He is being held on $1,000 bond.
Smith had practiced at the “star” cornerback position throughout fall camp and was expected to have an increased role in the secondary after a breakout freshman year, which included a start in the SEC Championship Game. Smith was rated a four-star cornerback prospect by 247sports out of high school.
The arrest is the Crimson Tide’s fifth this offseason, after Brent Calloway, Tyler Hayes, Eddie Williams and D.J. Pettaway in February. All four were dismissed from the team.
