Volleyball beats Mississippi State in straight sets

Alabama got back on track after it beat the Mississippi State Bulldogs in straight sets. The Crimson Tide had one of its better hitting performances of the season, finishing the match with .256 hitting percentage and committed only 17 attacking errors. Coach Ed Allen commented that the teams balance offensively is what led Alabama to a good win over a tough Mississippi State.

Early in the second quarter, defensive end Isaiah Buggs stormed his way through the offensive line and got to Missouri quarterback Drew Lock for an 18-yard sack. As Lock went down, Buggs stripped him of the ball, which Anfernee Jennings recovered, setting up Alabama inside Missouri’s red zone.

No. 1 Alabama defeated Missouri 39-10, but it came with a toll. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who left early in the third quarter because of a knee injury, and DeVonta Smith, who left with about six minutes left in the first half, were held out the rest of the  game because of injuries.
