Alabama’s freshman guard, De’Sha Benjamin, suffered a season-ending injury during yesterday’s overtime loss to Georgia, 76-67. Benjamin broke her foot during the fourth quarter and never returned to the game.

She was the Crimson Tide’s leading bench player and top freshman player with 6.2 points per game and 3.4 rebounds per game through 25 games. Benjamin led the team in three-point percentage (36.5 percent) and was second on the team in free throw percentage (76.1 percent).

Through 25 games, Benjamin scored double figures eight times. She was named SEC Co-Freshman of the week in December, the first freshman to do so for the Crimson Tide since the 2016-17 season.

With the loss of Benjamin, the Crimson Tide will look for more bench involvement with two games remaining before the SEC tournament begins.
