For the seventh consecutive year, an Alabama player won the Super Bowl.

The New England Patriots and Dont’a Hightower defeated the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl LIII 13-3. It was Hightower’s third Super Bowl win. He helped the Patriots win Super Bowl XLIX and LI, making the most critical two tackles of his career helping New England to those victories.

Hightower recorded two sacks, which were part of the Patriots four sacks, and three hits on Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff. The Patriots had 12 hits on Goff.

Hightower, who was affected by a hand injury, also broke up a pass, one of which almost resulted in an interception.

Hightower’s first Super Bowl victory coming against Seattle and the second against the Falcons in the largest comeback in Super Bowl history defeating the Falcons 34-28 in overtime after trailing by 25.

The Los Angeles Rams cornerback Mark Barron was a former Alabama player and a two-time team captain alongside Hightower. He recorded eight tackles and one pass breakup.
