Alabama places top-5 at the SEC Preview Meet

A week after the University of Alabama cross country team opened the season at Mississippi College, the men’s and women’s team are back in action. This time at the SEC Preview Meet hosted at Auburn University at Indian Pines Golf Course.

Nicole Gardner, a senior for the Crimson Tide, was the Crimson Tide’s top women finisher as she covered the 4,000-meter course in 13:55.1 placing ninth in her first competition of the season. For the men, senior Connor Ferrentino led the Crimson Tide finishing 18th with a time of 18:56.1. It was also his season debut in the 6,000-meter race.

For the Men’s 6,000 meters team results, Ole Miss came in first with 31 points, Tennessee in second with (35), Auburn in third with (80), Vanderbilt in fourth with (96) and Alabama in fifth with (119).

On the women’s side of competition for the 4,000-meter team results, Tennessee led the charge with 34 points, while Ole Miss came in second place with (53), Vanderbilt placed third with (54), Alabama behind them with (78) and Auburn in fifth with (125).

Alabama will be off  the next two weeks before returning to competition when they travel to the University of Wisconsin on Sept. 28 to compete in the Nuttycombe Invitational.
