Alabama landed its first quarterback commitment of the 2020 recruiting cycle on Tuesday from Carson Beck, a pro-style passer from Jacksonville, Florida.

Beck received an offer from Alabama on June 5, took an unofficial visit on Friday and announced his intentions to commit to the Crimson Tide via a tweet on Tuesday afternoon. According to the tweet, Beck plans to play both football and baseball at Alabama.

Beck, who has not yet been ranked by 247Sports, had previously committed to play baseball at Florida, and his other football offers currently include Boston College, Florida, Florida Atlantic and Miami, according to 247Sports.

With rumors swirling that both Tua Tagovailoa and Jalen Hurts could consider transferring should they not earn the starting job for the 2018 season, Beck will add more stability to the Crimson Tide’s quarterback room for 2020 and beyond.

Alabama currently has commitments from two quarterbacks in the 2019 cycle. Taulia Tagovailoa, the younger brother of Tua Tagovailoa, committed on April 21, just a couple weeks after Paul Tyson, the great-grandson of legendary coach Paul “Bear” Bryant.
