Collin Sexton’s NBA dreams were realized on Thursday night when he was selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers with the eighth pick in the 2018 NBA Draft.
Sexton became the first Alabama player to be selected in the first round since Gerald Wallace in 2001. Sexton’s selection also put an end to the decade long drought of former Crimson Tide players not being drafted.
Sexton will join the Cavaliers after a phenomenal season at Alabama in which he lead the Crimson Tide in points per game (19.2), assists (119), and free throws made (196).
Regardless of whether Lebron James remains with Cleveland next year, the Cavaliers will be expecting Sexton to make an instant impact with his defensive prowess, scoring ability and relentless attitude.
Sexton is the 15th Alabama player to be selected in the first round of the draft.
