Alabama took game one at Missouri on Friday. The Crimson Tide held on to win 2-1 for its 19th win of the season, tying last year’s win total. 

Alabama’s pitching led the way. Starter Sam Finnerty was phenomenal for his second straight start. He allowed just one run over seven innings of work. He struck out a batter to pick up his team-leading fourth win of the season.

 Deacon Medders came out of the bullpen to pick up his fifth save of the season. He threw the last two innings of the game, allowing three hits. 

“Today was an all-around team win against a good Missouri team,” coach Brad Bohannon said in a press release. “[Sam] Finnerty and [Deacon] Medders were outstanding; we played good defense behind them; and we had some timely hits. I’m proud of the way our kids competed through the tough weather, and it will take our best effort the next two days to win the series.”

Offensively, Alabama jumped ahead 2-0 after the second inning. Catcher Sam Praytor drove in the first run of the game after singling up the middle, scoring Hunter Alexander. Back-to-back singles scored Praytor.

Missouri cut the lead to just one in the fourth. The Tigers led off with two singles. They scored two batters later after the third single of the inning.

Chandler Avant led the team in hits, finishing 2-for-4. The two hits was his 16th multi-hit game of the season, which leads the team.
