Alabama scored early and often in Sunday’s series finale at Kentucky, defeating the Wildcats 9-3.

The Crimson Tide jumped on Kentucky starter Autumn Humes from the start of the game. Kaylee Tow started the damage with one out in the first, with a solo home run that sailed over the right-center field fence. Back-to-back doubles added Alabama’s second run of the frame. 

Tow struck again in the top of the second. With the bases loaded, she singled up the middle on the first pitch of her at-bat, scoring a pair of runs. Bailey Hemphill followed Tow’s single with a double to right, scoring another run.

Gabby Callaway’s homer to left field, scoring Alabama’s final three runs of the game. Alabama led 9-0 after two innings. 

Alexis Osorio struggled in her control for her second straight outing. She walked 10 batters over her seven innings of work. She struck out nine and allowed three earned runs off five hits. 

Kentucky scored its only three runs of the game in the bottom of the third. With a runner on third, Alex Martens doubled to center field, ending Osorio’s no-hitter. Osorio walked the next two hitters, loading the bases. Brooklyn Hinz singled to center, scoring two runs. Osorio struck out the next batter, leaving two batters in scoring position. 

Kentucky ended up leaving 12 batters on base, including bases loaded in the fourth inning.

Alabama is home for its next game, as it hosts Florida. Game one starts at noon on Saturday, April 7.
