Alabama basketball exited the NCAA Tournament at the hands of No. 1 seed Villanova, 81-58. The Crimson Tide, who were only down five at the half, could not stop the Wildcats from knocking down three-pointers in the second half.
Villanova forward Mikal Bridges scored 22 points in the second half and made five three-pointers to blow the game wide open. Bridges is a projected top 10 NBA Draft pick along with Alabama guard Collin Sexton, who led Alabama in scoring with 17 points.
Villanova opened up the second half on 27-4 run. Alabama was only down five at the half, but the three-point shooting from the Wildcats put the game away.
Sexton, who likely played his last game in an Alabama uniform, was the only player from Alabama to score in double figures. Forward Alex Reese was next in scoring with nine points.
Alabama finishes the season 20-16. The Crimson Tide won its first tournament game this year since 2006 and made its first appearance since 2012. Villanova will play the winner of Marshall and West Virginia.
