Alabama freshman point guard Collin Sexton hit a floater with no time left to give Alabama a 71-70 win over Texas A&M in the second round of the SEC tournament. The shot snapped a five-game losing streak for Alabama.
It came on the possession after Texas A&M guard T.J. Starks hit a three-pointer with 4.4 seconds left to give the Aggies a one-point lead.
Alabama will face rival Auburn in the quarterfinals of the SEC Tournament at 12 p.m. CT on Friday. It will serve as a rubber match between the two teams after Alabama won at home in the first meeting and Auburn blew out Alabama in Auburn arena in the second.
Sexton finished with a game-high 27 points on 9-of-16 shooting. Starks scored 23 points for the Aggies.
Texas A&M crawled its way back into the game after Alabama had a 12-point lead with 12 minutes remaining. Still, Alabama was able to maintain its composure and the heroics from Sexton earned it a win.
Guard Dazon Ingram scored 13 points and forward Donta Hall scored 11 to round-out Alabama’s players in double figures.
