Two students were shot Wednesday after Huffman High School in Birmingham dismissed school. According to CNN.com, police said a person was taken into custody in connection with the shooting.
A 17-year-old girl was killed, and a 17-year-old-boy was injured in the shooting.
Al.com reported that the shooting began in a classroom, and the school went on temporary lockdown. The female victim, identified on Al.com as Courtlin Arrington, was given CPR at the scene. The male victim was shot in the leg, and they both were rushed to UAB Hospital. CPR efforts on Arrington continued on the way to the hospital.
Huffman High School is closed today.
