The soul and sound of the blues is set to infiltrate Tuscaloosa this weekend.
During “An Evening of Art and Blues,” the Band of Brothers Brewing Company will celebrate the blues while supporting local music programs.
“An Evening of Art and Blues” begins at 7 p.m. tonight, Friday, Feb. 16, with live blues entertainment and a silent auction. The silent auction will include art from across the country, and gift baskets are available for the highest bidder. Hors d’oeuvres will also be provided to keep the party going. The festivities will run until midnight for those not ready to call it a night after an hour or two.
Tickets for the event are $30 at the door orb $25 in advance. All proceeds from “An Evening of Art and Blues” will be donated to the Alabama Blues Project to support music programs for underserved children in West Alabama.
The Alabama Blues Project keeps the blues alive by providing blues music lessons for children ages 8 to 18 in the areas of vocals, harmonica, guitars and drums. These lessons are taught by some of the best blues musicians in the state. As well as learning to to perform the blues, students also learn the history of the music genre.
The Band of Brothers Brewing Company is the third craft brewery founded in Tuscaloosa. It also features the largest taproom in the area. The Band of Brothers Brewing Company is known for its live music, movie nights, games and, of course, its craft beers.
