The Alabama Crimson Tide softball team opened its 2018 season with a 1-0 victory over the South Alabama Jaguars.
In a pitchers duel, both Alabama (1-0) and South Alabama (0-1) collected three hits a piece. Sophomore Gabby Callaway drove in senior Sydney Booker for the lone run of the game in the top of the second.
Freshman Kaylee Tow collected her first career college hit, a double to lead of the sixth inning. Sophomore Bailey Hemphill got the first hit of the season for Alabama with two outs in the first. She also walked three times.
