What: Toiletry drive benefiting women recently released from prison to help them get back on their feet
When: Jan. 16th to Feb. 16th
Where: Drop box for toiletries located at the Women and Gender Resource Center
Why: AIM’s mission according to their website is to “provide services to Alabama’s incarcerated women with emphasis on enhancing personal growth and strengthening the bonds between inmate mothers and their children.”
“This is one of the many events I host throughout the year that strives toward the mission of the resource center and falls under gender equity issues. This is the third year we’ve partnered with AIM for a toiletry drive and have really seen a positive impact,” said Paige Miller, program coordinator for The Women and Gender Resource Center.
Founder of the event and executive director for AIM, Carol Potok, said, “This idea has been produced in other areas of the country and we wanted to bring it here to Alabama.”
The drive accepts new full sized toiletries such as shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, etc.
