Southern Studies 203 will be offered in the spring 2018 semester, according to UA Media Relations.
The Crimson White published an article on Wednesday, November 15 stating that the fate of Southern Studies 203 was uncertain moving forward. Tom Wolfe, interim chair of the American Studies Department, said this was untrue. The current instructor of the course was under the impression that the course would not take place. However, at the time of the interview with the instructor, the department was trying to bring the course back for the spring of 2018, and the class was going to run in the fall of 2018 regardless, he said.
The article also stated that hundreds of students signed a petition to bring back the class, and Wolfe said the number of signatures totaled 136. The Crimson White regrets this and any other errors in the reporting of this story. The article has been removed from the website so untrue information does not continue to circulate.
