University of Alabama students and faculty have the power to help saves lives by participating in the annual American Red Cross “Beat Auburn” Blood Drive. The American Red Cross has partnered with SGA to host this year’s drive. The overall goal for the blood drive is to have 300 donors over the course of three days.
WHAT: The American Red Cross annual “Beat Auburn” Blood Drive.
WHO: All University students and faculty members who are willing and able to donate blood are invited to participate. Students and faculty who do not meet the qualifications to give blood can still get involved by volunteering to work the event.
Volunteers who plan on donating are encouraged to set up an appointment online. An online appointment can be created by going to redcrossblood.org, entering the sponsor code BEATAUBURN, selecting a blood drive day and time slot and creating or signing into an account.
Donors will receive food and a t-shirt for giving blood.
WHEN: Tuesday, Nov. 14 to Thursday, Nov. 16. Daily hours for the blood drive will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
WHERE: 3107 and 3108 Ferguson Student Center.
WHY: “It’s truly a way that students can help save lives,” said Price McGiffert, SGA vice president of external affairs. “That’s the best way to put it. Students have the chance to really make a difference in the community and state and they get a lot of perks for donating as well.”
