An email was sent out to multiple UA students in an attempt to scam them out of personal information, according to a security alert released by the University’s Office of Information Technology. This phishing attempt was titled “URGENT NOTIFICATION FROM UNIVERSAL.” The text of the email was a fake job offer for a position as a personal assistant with “weekly earnings.” Students who opened the email were asked to click on a link that would then ask for sensitive information. Anyone who clicked on this email and gave away sensitive information is recommended by the University to change your myBama password and activate DUO.
