Valentine’s Day, also known as Singles Awareness Day, comes with a mixture of feelings. Some people will be getting dressed up to go on a date while others are throwing on their favorite pair of sweatpants and planning to binge watch Hallmark movies and Netflix classics. But not everyone loves the idea of romantic comedies, so here are a few of the top horror-themed movies to watch on this otherwise love-centered holiday.
“My Bloody Valentine”: The plot of this movie is based on six miners who were fighting to save their lives. Unfortunately, only one makes it out and the rest are dead. The one character left twists the plot around and ends up killing the nurse once he wakes up from a coma. There are multiple series of events that lead to drama and suspense along with gore and will leave you on the edge of your seat.
“Lovers’ Lane”: This movie was filmed in 1999 and the storyline is created around a man with a hook for a hand who escapes from a mental institution to go after children of his previous victims. This leads to more death and blood since the man had to suffer by losing a hand in the process.
“The Loved Ones”: This film is more of a teen-appropriate one, as there is a classmate who turns down the invitation to their school dance and, then another teenager decides to kidnap the boy who refuses to go to the dance and make him the guest of honor by bossing him around.
“Valentines Day”: Appropriately titled, this movie is known to be a classic to our college-student generation since there are well-known characters involved. Several Los Angeles natives celebrate the day of love during their single and lonely lives.
“Hospital Massacre”: This is by far one of the scariest plots of movies that are recommended for this holiday. The character Mad Harold searches a hospital to find an old patient who refused to be his Valentine 19 years earlier. Harold goes through multiple hospitals and takes extraordinary lengths to find this woman.
