Open from 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. every day of the week, Urban Cookhouse serves up more than sandwiches and wraps. The bistro seeks to offer a relaxed atmosphere for breakfast, lunch and dinner, while maintaining table-side service up until the moment you walk out the door. In tandem, the cookhouse offers local ingredients cooked over hickory wood and charcoal each day. The deli can name exactly what farm each product has come from right down to the strawberries pureed for the strawberry lemonade.
“We work with as many local farmers as we can,” said Vincent Hunter, manager of the Tuscaloosa location. “We also offer a table-side service, providing crayons for the kids and refilling drinks; it’s fast-casual with a full-service spin.”
Hunter is also passionate about the business because of its commitment to quality, customer service and care for each and every guest. Students have also taken notice of the fast-casual approach and overall dining experience.
“We had at least four servers come up and ask us how our meal was,” said Julia Greer, a sophomore majoring in history and Spanish. “The food was really good, the servers were really kind, and it honestly just reminded me of home.”
The bistro offers dining inside, catering, carry-out and a drive-thru window in an effort to accommodate each and every guest. From house-made sandwiches and wraps to local vegetables, soups and sweets, the cookhouse welcomes any and all as they work to provide options for all ages and groups of guests.
“Urban Cookhouse was delicious,” said Steven Beard, a senior majoring in chemical engineering. “My favorite part was definitely the half-baked cookie and strawberry lemonade. I’d recommend it to anyone.”
Whether you’re seeking a fast-casual deli with local and fresh ingredients, or a catering service that seeks to accommodate each and every guest, Urban Cookhouse welcomes their guests to visit any day of the week.
