Starting this Monday and continuing every Monday until the end of the NFL season our staff at the Crimson White will recap how former Alabama football players did in the previous week.
With the third week of preseason now over in the NFL, it’s time to take a look at how some of the top players who once wore the crimson and white performed.
Starting in Oakland, former Heisman finalist Amari Cooper recorded three receptions for 54 yards. The speedy wide receiver also made a nasty toe-dragging catch to haul in a 41-yard bomb for a touchdown.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to the catch:
On the other sideline, in a Tennessee Titan uniform, was former Heisman winner Derrick Henry who barreled his way through the Oakland defense for 49 yards on 12 carries with one touchdown.
Now, heading down south to Jacksonville, Florida, the Bengals and Jaguars squared off at EverBank Field where three-time National Championship winner A.J. McCarron took a majority of the snaps at quarterback for Cincinnati. A.J. completed 8-of-12 passes on the night for 107 yards with a laser of a touchdown to wideout Alex Erickson.
Running back T.J. Yeldon also had himself a solid game Saturday night for the Jaguars, as he rushed for 34 yards on just five attempts. Yeldon’s only error of the night was a lost fumble during the first half.
In North Carolina, the Panthers and Patriots battled as former corner and return specialist Cyrus Jones left his mark on the game in a huge way. Returning three punts for a total of over 80 yards, including a 60-yard punt return that involved out maneuvering multiple defenders.
In San Francisco, Eddie Lacey, the lead back for the Green Bay Packers, rushed for 45 yards on seven carries. On the other side of the line of scrimmage, ball-hawking safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix led the defense with three solo tackles.
