What: “Team-Based Learning: How to Do it and Why You Should (Yes, it IS Evidence-Based!)” is the next lecture in a series presented through the Teaching Excellence Brown Bag.
Dr. Jessica Allen is one of the presenters of the upcoming lecture and an assistant professor in psychology at the University. Allen said the events are mainly for faculty and graduate students, but open to anyone that may be interested.
Dr. Lynn Snow is the other presenter at this event.
There will be a presentation about team-based learning’s use and effectiveness and Q&A opportunities for attendees, Allen said.
“[I’m looking forward to] connecting with colleagues and having the opportunity to discuss practices in education both in a formal and informal way,” Allen said. “It provides not only an information gathering session but also provides the opportunity for future collaborations, which is exciting.”

Why: Allen said she is looking forward to sharing the usefulness of team-based learning at the upcoming presentation.
“Education has placed an emphasis on active learning and we see that active learning is very beneficial to students for knowledge acquisition, for engagement and satisfaction in their courses,” Allen said. “Team-based learning is one way to [use active learning].”
