Normal operations and classes for The University of Alabama will be suspended at 6:30 p.m. tonight due to local weather predictions. The worst of weather tonight is supposed to hit the Tuscaloosa area between 7-8 p.m. No tornado warning has been issued yet. If conditions worsen earlier, the University will send a follow-up email with new information.
Bama Dining is closing all of its facilities at 6:30 p.m. except for Lakeside Dining and Julia’s Market in Tutwiler Hall. They said the hours of operation changes will be posted on the Bama Dining website. Additionally, University bus services might be suspended for safety reasons this afternoon if winds reach 35-40 mph. Both recreational centers will remain open unless an official tornado warning is issues, although all intramural teams, group exercise classes and club sports will be cancelled after 6:30 p.m.
Campus tornado shelters will be open for students, faculty and staff if a tornado watch is issued. The shelters include North Campus Storm Shelter, East Campus Storm Shelter and the Magnolia Parking Deck BARA, all of which can be viewed on a map at http://prepare.ua.edu/?page_id=4319.
