The University of Alabama’s Feminist Caucus will host a rally on Friday, August 27th.
The rally, “Celebrating Women!” will be held in front of Ferguson Student Center at 5:00 p.m. to promote the empowerment of women on campus.
“It’s kind of an honor of the recent history of women’s right to vote and how we still don’t have the ERA ratified in Alabama and we’re one of the few states that hasn’t done it,” said Lindsay Macher, media and publicity coordinator for Feminist Caucus.
There will be scheduled speakers sharing their experiences as women, as well as an opportunity for those in attendance to speak out.
The event is meant to be inclusive and open to students, faculty and members of the community.
UA’s Feminist Caucus was founded by Cassidy Ellis, a graduate student studying women’s studies and communications, in the fall of 2014 and was awarded the title of “Outstanding New Organization” for the 2014-2015 school year by The Source.
