Last week, a consulting firm out of Birmingham, known as Accounting, Economics and Appraisal Group, LLC, was named the Manderson Partner of the Year by the Culverhouse College of Commerce. This award is given by the University of Alabama’s Manderson Graduate School of Business. The winner of this award is chosen for a company’s relationship with the school and how well it is able to further benefit the graduate’s knowledge and experience within the corporation post graduation.
The Culverhouse College takes pride in the relationships that have been created through the companies that support University of Alabama students, and this award helps to maintain these relationships and to help them grow. The Manderson Partner of the Year Award was first presented in 2009. The award was created in order to honor the exceptional relationships that impact the University of Alabama’s MBA program. It has since been awarded to companies such as BBVA Compass, Regions, Cigna-Health Spring, Proctor & Gamble, and Georgia-Pacific.
“The Manderson Corporate Partner Award annually recognizes a company in which has had, or continues to have, a significant impact on the program and the lives of its students by assisting in the professional advancement, growth and development of graduates. In selecting the corporate winner, the committee considered support of key initiatives, length of engagement with the Program as well as spontaneous, unexpected, and unusual activity that advances the program experience for students and faculty,” said Connie Chambers, the Director of Corporate Partnerships at the Culverhouse College of Commerce.
The Accounting, Economics and Appraisal Group, LLC, or AEA, is a consulting firm that provides economic, financial and strategic advice to companies involved in forensic investigations. AEA has firms located in Houston, Birmingham, Atlanta and Nashville. However, AEA has clients all across the United States, including the Northeast, Texas and California.
Steve P. Lovpoy, an alumnus from the University of Alabama’s graduate school of business, manages the Atlanta office for the AEA group. He attended the award presentation.
“AEA Group and I take great pride in the firm’s accomplishments, particularly that of being awarded the Manderson Partner of the Year,” Lovpoy said. “Our success has been directly impacted by the outstanding relationships we have built over the years throughout the University’s business school as well as the excellent caliber of students we are able to hire as a result. In addition, I will be forever grateful for the opportunities the programs at the University and its faculty provided me personally. So, to be recognized for the benefits our firm is able to provide in return means a great deal.”
As a high-ranking staff member within the AEA group, Lovpoy sees the results and skills that graduates from the Culverhouse College of Commerce possess and utilize in the working field.
“The pool of first-rate talent the University attracts and develops, and from which we are consistently able to draw, enables us to serve industry leading, global organizations by finding creative solutions to the most contentious and complex problems they face,” Lovpoy said.
