Former Alabama sprinter Kirani James and current Alabama sprinter Ahmed Ali will compete in the 2015 IAAF World Championships at the National Stadium in Beijing beginning on Aug. 22.
Ali, a current senior at Alabama, will run the 200 meter event for Sudan. Last year Ali earned two All-America honors, and he finished eighth at the SEC Championships with a 200 meter time of 20.95.
James ran for Alabama from 2009-2011, and he is now running the 400 meter event for his country Grenada. As a collegiate sprinter he was a two-time NCAA champion in the 400 meter event, and he became the 2011 SEC Indoor and Outdoor Runner of the Year. James also became the first Grenadian to ever win an Olympic medal when he won Olympic gold in the 400 meter during the 2012 London Olympics.
