Deontay “The Bronze Bomber” Wilder (34-033, KOs), Tuscaloosa Native and WBC heavyweight world champion, will defend his title against Jonn “Reptile” Duhaupas (32-2, 20 KOs) at Birmingham’s Legacy Arena on Sept. 26.

Omar “Panterita” Figueroa (25-0-1, 18 KOs) will start the night off by fighting former world champion Antonio DeMarco(31-5-1, 23 KOs). Televised coverage of the first fight begins at 8:30 p.m. ET. on NBC. This is the first time a heavyweight title defense has been broadcast in prime time on NBC since Larry Holmes fought on May 20, 1985.

Wilder is no stranger to fighting within Alabama. To date Wilder has fought four times in Tuscaloosa and once in Mobile. Now Wilder’s second title defense will occur in the same town as his first. In June, Wilder defeated Eric Molina in Birmingham’s Bartow Arena.

“Fighting at home last time exceeded my expectations and coming back again is a blessing upon my life,” said Wilder. “I’m looking forward to bringing more boxing to Alabama and introducing the entire state to this great sport.”
