University of Alabama police investigated a suspicious package near Shelby Hall Monday morning. After a brief investigation, Shelby Hall was given the all clear. The package was found outside the east portion of of the building Monday morning, according to an email statement from the university.
Students and faculty first received an email at 8:55 a.m. Monday morning advising them to stay away from the area until given further notice. The email also said classes in other areas of Shelby Hall would continue, but those who still needed to enter the building were asked to use doors located on the other side of the building.
UAPD said the suspicious package did not present a risk, according to a second email statement sent shortly after 11 a.m. Monday morning. Students and faculty were advised to stay away from the area as officers finished the investigation. Another email gave the all clear for Shelby Hall, saying normal operations in the building could resume.
