NEW ORLEANS | Alabama ventured to the Super Dome on Sunday for its first practice in New Orleans ahead of the Sugar Bowl on New Year’s Day. The team wore full pads.
Yeldon limited
Running back T.J. Yeldon was limited in practice with an injured hamstring, wearing tape on his right ankle and calf and a protective splint on his hamstring. He participated in some drills, including full team drills. Derrick Henry led the running backs through drills.
“He’s practiced the last two days and we’ll continue to work him,” Alabama coach Nick Saban said of Yeldon on Saturday. “Hopefully he’ll continue to progress with the significant time off and make a contribution in the game.”
Dime package
Alabama worked in its dime package, adding an additional defensive back in place a linebacker. Cyrus Jones and Eddie Jackson were the first team cornerbacks, while Jabriel Washington and Nick Perry lined up at safety. Geno Smith took his customary position at star while Landon Collins moved closer to the line and played money. Trey DePriest remained at linebacker.
Bradley Sylve and Tony Brown were the second team cornerbacks.
Alabama will practice on Monday at 1 p.m. CT.
