On the morning of Thursday, November 13, a fire broke out at the UA Aquatic Center located on the University of Alabama’s campus, according to Cathy Andreen, Director of Media Relations for the University. The fire occurred in the pump room of the 50 meter pool, and the Tuscaloosa Fire Department responded to put out the fire.
“No one was injured; however, the pump room was damaged and will require extensive cleaning and replacement of electrical and plumbing equipment. No other areas of the Aquatic Center were affected,” Andreen said.
The 50 meter pool is closed indefinitely for cleanup and repairs.
