Sorority to hold pool party at Riverside
The Lambda Zeta Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta is hosting “The Extinguisher,” a water mania even in Riverside Community Courtyard Wednesday at 6 p.m. All students are welcome to come, and all games and concession are free of charge. This event is in conjunction with Delta Week.
PR class, Innisfree partner for fundraising event
Platform Online Magazine, a public relations magazine and upper-level PR class, invites students to a fundraising event at Innisfree Irish Pub on Wednesday at 8 p.m. There is no cover charge, and Billy Gant will perform starting at 10:30 p.m.
Last semester’s fundraising event at Innisfree raised enough money to send a Platform Magazine editor from to the Public Relations Student Society of America’s (PRSSA) national convention in San Diego, Calif. Groups to hold final culinary event
The Honors College, First-Year-Writing Program, and Housing-Residential Communities are hosting the final spring event in our “What’s for Dinner?” series on culinary culture & sustainability. The panel discussion about culinary culture and sustainability will be today at 5:30 p.m. in Gorgas Room 205.
Featured guests for the panel include UA professors Stephen Schneider and Chip Brantley, University of Montevallo professor Michael Patton and Tres Jackson, chef at Epiphany. The event will include a reception and food tasting with several recipes prepared from Frank Stitt’s cookbook, “Southern Table.” It is free and open to all.
Judicial Board Begins Office Hours
The Judicial Branch of the SGA is now requiring office hours for all justices and clerks. This will increase the transparency of the Judicial Board and make all members more accessible to students. The 20 associate justices and three clerks will be required to work at least one office hour a week in the SGA office. Prior to April 13, only the chief justice was required to do office hours.
SGA launches temporary Web site
The Student Government Association is in the process of creating a more user-friendly and interactive Web site to serve as a resource for students. The SGA will be adding social media outlets, senate videos and financial information.
A temporary site is currently in place to mark the beginning of this transition.
There will be a calendar and announcements on the homepage for students to use as a resource for upcoming events and important dates. Senate meeting videos will also be posted online. Financial information will be also included, such as the FAC allocations and officer salaries.
Honors College to host financial lecture for seniors
The Honors College is sponsoring a special lecture for its graduating seniors. Professor Jan Brakefield will present “Put Your Money Where Your Heart Is: Figure out your Finances before you Graduate” on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. in Room 227 of Lloyd Hall.
