Alabama softball coach Patrick Murphy and gymnastics coach Sarah Patterson were each given raises after leading their respective teams to national championship seasons in 2012.
Murphy’s pay will jump $15,000 to $240,000, while Patterson’s will increase by $30,000 to $330,000. Patterson also received an expense account of $12,000 per year. The raises were approved Monday during a meeting of the UA Compensation Committee.
Murphy led Alabama to a 60-8 record in 2012 and captured the program’s first national championship, defeating Oklahoma in the Women’s College World Series. He has been the head coach since 1998.
Patters won Alabama’s second gymnastics national championship in two years in 2012 and sixth in the program’s history. She has coached at Alabama since 1978 and will be commemorated with the Sarah Patterson Memorial Plaza, which was approved earlier this summer.
