Whether your Gameday look is causal and carefree or dressy and debonair, the city of Tuscaloosa has your fashion needs covered. There are numerous shops around town that are easily accessible for everyone, even students on campus, and places that have you looking fabulous without breaking that cute new wallet.
The Shirt Shop: Located in downtown Tuscaloosa, The Shirt Shop has everything an Alabama fan could need. They have the popular American Apparel V-necks with their signature elephant as well as other comfy Alabama tees, Patagonia hoodies and North Face jackets. The Shirt Shop also carries more elegant choices, like printed silk tops or patterned scarves. Prices are more on the expensive side, but their products are well worth the splurge.
Azwell: Tucked inside Midtown Village, Azwell also offers football fans chic Gameday options. Like The Shirt Shop, their items are dressier, but they offer casual pieces, too. Prices range depending on the clothing item, but are generally affordable, even on a college budget. Azwell even has one-of-a-kind pieces that you can’t find at any other boutique in town; now you don’t have to worry about showing up in the same houndstooth top as everyone else in Bryant-Denny Stadium.
Kinnucan’s: Also in Midtown Village, Kinnucan’s is generally thought of as more of an outdoor shop. However, when you walk in most people are surprised to find a selection of classy Gameday tops. These tops range in price, but can be purchased as a solid wardrobe staple. When you make the trip, be sure to check out their huge selection of Toms – one of my favorites – and their sunglasses to keep your eyes safe on those bright days!
Deja Vu Consignment Boutique: If you’re looking for an affordable choice without compromising your style, check out Deja Vu Consignment Boutique, located on 15th Street. Since the items are consignment, you’re guaranteed to find a piece that no one else has. Deja Vu also has a great selection of statement accessories, whether it’s chunky necklaces, trendy bracelets or vintage bags.
Your closet: It sounds cheesy, but your closet has more Gameday potential than you think! If you’re running on a tight budget, poke around your own clothing racks. Chances are if you live in Tuscaloosa, have been to a game or own staple pieces in general, you can find something to wear for kickoff. Not every Gameday has to be a runway show. Sometimes it really is okay to throw on some jeans and hit the Quad. Mix and match your clothes for a new look; your creativity will ensure you don’t look like all of the other fans.
