Former Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe participated in the 2025 NFL combine’s second throwing session on Saturday.
The dual-threat QB forwent the 40-yard dash and told reporters on Friday that he wanted to show that his physical attributes on the football field are not “one-dimensional.”
The last time Milroe performed in front of NFL scouts was at the 2025 Senior Bowl, where he completed three passes for 18 yards and was sacked three times. NFL draft analysts like ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. do not have Milroe projected as a first-round selection, so the combine was an opportunity for him to prove naysayers wrong.
“There’s going to be failure,” Milroe said. “There’s going to be times of doubt, and you gotta allow yourself to not waiver from your goal, which is getting to the top of that mountain, which is being successful.”
To begin his throwing session, Milroe connected with three receivers on quick slants. One pass was thrown too far ahead of his target.
Next up was quick outs and short posts. Milroe airmailed a throw over a receiver, but he bounced back by completing a few passes near the sideline.
Milroe had some accuracy problems when throwing 15-yard stop routes and corner routes. One of his throws was slightly above the receiver’s hands, and another sailed out of bounds.
“He’s got a hose, though. It’s just a matter of directing it and being a little more precise with the footwork, which is going to help with your accuracy,” NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah said.
As the yardage increased with each round of passing, Milroe began to settle in. He was off-target on his first attempt at throwing a 25-yard out, but he came back with two precision strikes. He returned for another rep but overthrew another receiver.
Toward the end of the throwing session, quarterbacks had the opportunity to show off their arm strength by throwing go routes. Milroe took his drop and heaved a perfect 50-yard pass down the field, creating a huge social media buzz.

Milroe looked more relaxed in the deep passing game, but Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner said on the NFL combine broadcast that Milroe needs to get more comfortable with anticipatory throws.
Milroe may be a work in progress in the short and intermediate passing game, but he is the top quarterback prospect in the run game. In 2024, he ran for 726 yards and 20 scores.
Although there may be some accuracy concerns regarding Milroe, no other quarterback in the 2025 NFL draft class can run like him. That sole reason is why an NFL team may take a chance on him.
