No. 17 Alabama gymnastics traveled to Fayetteville, Arkansas, on Friday to take on the No. 16 Razorbacks. Alabama scored its second win of the season and first SEC win after beating Arkansas 197.65-197.425.
“I’m really proud of the team tonight,” head coach Ashley Johnston said. “It was really exciting to see them translate all of their work in the gym out onto the competition floor.”
Rotation 1
As the visiting team, Alabama gymnastics started on the uneven bars, and Arkansas started on the vault. After the first rotation, Alabama was leading 49.475-49.2.
For the Crimson Tide, graduate student Shania Adams posted the highest score of 9.95, which landed her the event title.
Rotation 2
On the vault, Alabama scored a 49.25 to keep in the lead, 98.725-98.4.
The Crimson Tide’s highest scorer was junior Karis German, who posted a 9.925, earning her the event title.
“She came out there with what was a beautiful vault, stuck it cold,” Johnston said. “She’s worked really hard on owning her process and really knowing EQs [execution score], the mindset, what she needs to focus on to set herself up for having the result that she wants.”
