A female UA student was sent to DCH this afternoon after incurring non-life threatening injuries from a pocketknife. The student received the injuries during an altercation in the Burke West residence hall parking lot. Three other female students were involved in the altercation, but none were injured, according to UA spokeswoman Cathy Andreen.
UAPD responded to the scene at approximately 3:15 p.m. this afternoon, Andreen said, and took control of the situation.
“Early investigations appear to indicate that at least two of the students have had an ongoing conflict this semester,” Andreen said in an email. “Following normal procedures, the Tuscaloosa County Metro Homicide Unit and UAPD are investigating the altercation to determine whether charges will be brought.”
“The University emphasizes that behavior that is intimidating or threatening or that results in harm to others is not acceptable in any way on this campus, and violations will be dealt with quickly and appropriately,” Andreen said.
