The Tuscaloosa City Council has approved a 1% sales tax increase, and several students are concerned about the effects that the increase will have on students’ lives and the city.
The Student Government Association (SGA) Senate passed a constitutional amendment on March 21 that requires students running for graduate senate chairs to have received their bachelor's degree.
Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox proposed a plan called “Elevate Tuscaloosa” to encourage students to stay in the city after they graduate. Though the Tuscaloosa City Council has voted against parts of the plan, Maddox still sees value in it.
The Student Government Association (SGA) announced that Harrison Adams defeated Marquis Hollingsworth for the position of SGA president shortly before 8 p.m. on March 7.
Marquis Hollingsworth, a junior majoring in general business, is running for Student Government Association president to represent all students on campus and incite a cultural change in SGA operations.
