PRACTICE REPORT: Updates on several injured players
November 19, 2019
After a day off on Monday, Alabama returned to the practice fields on Tuesday afternoon to prepare for Western Carolina. Here are our observations from practice:
Senior defensive lineman Raekwon Davis (sprained ankle) and junior wide receiver Henry Ruggs III (bruised rib) were both not spotted during the media viewing period. Freshman nose tackle D.J. Dale (twisted knee) was present, but did not participate. Redshirt sophomore defensive lineman Phidarian Mathis was also not participating in individual drills.
Freshman Byron Young (No. 47 in the video below) and senior Tevita Musika (91) were the first two defensive linemen in individual drills.

In Ruggs’ absence, the outside receivers ran routes two at a time. Juniors Jerry Jeudy and DeVonta Smith were the first pair, followed by freshman John Metchie and redshirt sophomore Tyrell Shavers. Sophomore Jaylen Waddle was the first slot receiver. Redshirt sophomore Major Tennison and freshman Jahleel Billingsley were the first two tight ends in line.
Redshirt sophomore Mac Jones, Alabama’s new starting quarterback, threw a nice deep pass down the left sideline to Waddle.
