Alabama makes its first appearance in the 2011 NIT [National Invitation Tournament] on Tuesday against Coastal Carolina in the first round. Alabama enters at the No. 1 seed in its bracket, while Coastal Carolina is the No. 8 seed in the bracket.
Tuesday’s game is being played in Coleman Coliseum, where the Crimson Tide posted a perfect home record this season.
The Tide is one of four No. 1 seeds in the 32-team field with a 21-11 overall record and a 12-4 SEC record.
This is Alabama’s first postseason appearance since 2007 and its 11th NIT appearance in the program’s history.
Junior JaMychal Green, who was named All-SEC first team, leads Alabama with 16 points per game and 7.8 rebounds per game. He has averaged a double-double in the last four games.
