Alabama softball lost its first game of the season to Texas A&M, 4-3. The Aggies rallied to tie the game in the bottom of the sixth and would win the game on a walk-off RBI single in the seventh.

Sophomore Kaylee Tow continued her hot streak at the plate going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Her home run in the first inning got Alabama on the board extending her reached base streak to 15 games. Despite home runs by Tow and junior Claire Jenkins, Alabama could only muster four hits in the loss.

With a quiet offensive performance by the Crimson Tide, it relied on pitching and defense to keep the game close. Freshman Montana Fouts pitched 6.0 innings allowing three earned runs on seven hits and struck out five. Junior Sarah Cornell came in relief in the bottom of the seventh and a clutch two-out RBI single by Texas A&M’s Payton McBride ended Alabama’s 33-game winning streak.

Alabama comes back home to face Georgia Tech on Wednesday, March 27. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m. CT.
