The legacy continues: former Alabama standouts make final preseason adjustments

As the NFL preseason is heading into its last week, and teams are securing their final rosters, former Alabama standouts keep making an impression throughout the league. Week three of the preseason is a time where a lot of starters and key players get the most reps, and it’s time people get to see what team’s may look like throughout the regular season.

Former Alabama and current Miami Dolphins running back Kenyan Drake played 20 snaps against the Baltimore Ravens. Drake would finish the game with four carries and 32 yards added to one reception for 36 yards. Miami would go on to lose 27-10.

Other notable Alabama players in week three of preseason were Dallas Cowboys Bo Scarbrough where he ran for a team-high 21-yards and seven carriers.  The Cowboys lost to the Arizona Cardinals 27-3.

Former Alabama standout Cyrus Jones saw his first action with the New England Patriots since suffering a knee injury last year. His first game back he returned three kickoffs for 38 yards, a 1-yard punt return, recorded 16 defensive snaps and six special teams snaps. The Patriots lost to the Carolina Panthers 25-14.

Ryan Anderson and Shaun Dion Hamilton, both Redskins teammates made sizable impressions. Anderson had three tackles and a quarterback hit, while Hamilton led the team with six tackles. The Redskins lost 29-17 to the Denver Broncos.

Jacksonville Jaguars running back T.J. Yeldon ran for 23 yards on five carries against the Atlanta Falcons. Added to that, Yeldon caught three passes for 23 yards and got the ball on half of his snaps in the game. The Jaguars lost 17-6.

In week three of the preseason, 51 former Alabama players took snaps in games. There is one week left of preseason before the regular season starts on Sept. 6.
