Girl power is taking over Tuscaloosa tomorrow, Thursday, April 26. PRIDE of Tuscaloosa is hosting “Girl Talk: Overcoming Obstacles to Empower Women,” which is set to take place at the Tuscaloosa River Market from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
“Girl Talk” is a free dining experience that was created to provide education on protective and risk factors of substance abuse. Other important topics that will be discussed include substance abuse prevention and treatment, social media management, suicide, bullying, sex crimes, OBGYN education and tips on how to create and maintain a healthy relationship.
The event is only open to women, and any and all mothers, daughters, students, community members, mentors and mentees are welcome. However, it is suggested that those who wish to attend are 12 years and older.
A panel of experts will be present to discuss today’s modern issues, offer advice and answer any questions the audience may have.
PRIDE of Tuscaloosa stands for the Parent’s Resource Institute for Drug Education. It is the only nonprofit in the Tuscaloosa area that strives to create awareness about substance abuse prevention. The organization also works to reduce substance abuse and the onset of addiction within the Tuscaloosa community.
PRIDE of Tuscaloosa provides effective drug prevention education programs and materials that are available for both parents and youths. The organization has also partnered with Tuscaloosa City and the Tuscaloosa City School Systems to educate students about the dangers of substance abuse and the importance of making healthy lifestyle choices.
