A season of shows at Druid City Music Hall isn’t really complete unless CBDB’s on the marquee.
Tonight, Friday April 6, the Tuscaloosa-based CBDB will once again return to Druid City Music Hall. The Strip’s music venue last saw the jam band in September. Tonight, Amoramora will support.
Following the release of their 2015 LP “Joyfunk Is Dead,” CBDB charged ahead on a slew of national tours playing various festivals (like the jam-welcoming Sweetwater 420 and Okeechobee festivals) and venues stretching from one coast – Knitting Factory in Brooklyn, New York – to the other. They’ll return to New York in late April, this time playing the more rotund Gramercy Theatre.
CBDB coined their own genre. Plucked from the 2015 record’s name and indicative of their jubilant jam-rock blend, they declare themselves as “joyfunk.” Vocalist and guitarist Cy Simonton marries that distinct sound to snackable lyrics. The band’s latest single, “Unintentional Liar,” certainly maintains both the band’s refined take on a Phish-like sound and quippy lyrics. It’s the first single from their upcoming record, “Out of Line,” out May 5.
The doors open tonight at 7:30 p.m., and the show starts at 9. Tickets are $12 at the door or online at www.druidcitymusichall.com.
