The SGA senate confirmed SGA President Casey Nelson’s choice for deputy chief of staff, Natalie Jenkins, after delaying the start of the meeting by 10 minutes to meet the constitutionally mandated ⅔ quorum.
Jenkins, a junior majoring in apparel and textiles, will begin serving under Nelson immediately until the end of Nelson’s term in May.
Nelson, a junior majoring in political science and public relations, said choosing Jenkins was a no-brainer because of the work they have done together in the past.
“When everything happened earlier in the semester, Natalie was one of the first people to reach out to me to make sure I had the resources necessary to have a smooth transition,” Nelson said. “She’s really been kind of the right hand man.”
After being confirmed, Jenkins said despite the short amount of time, there are items that need to be accomplished before the expiration of Nelson’s term.
“There are certain things that need to be carried out such as selecting Board of Governors,” Jenkins said. “I will be doing that along with the chief of staff and the vice president for student affairs and just assisting President Nelson with any task she needs help with.”
