Warmer weather isn’t the only reason people look forward to March. The onset of March brings with it St. Patrick’s Day, everyone’s favorite global celebration of Irish culture and the remembrance of Saint Patrick, the country’s foremost patron. Those celebrating are also expected to wear shamrocks, green clothing or green accessories to avoid being pinched. On Saturday, March 17, you might just find time to scramble off to one of these spots to cap off your spring break. Here’s a list of the cities in the South that are celebrating St. Patty’s Say to the fullest.

New Orleans 

Nola’s St. Patrick’s Day parades give patrons the opportunity to get together and enjoy warm weather. Starting at 11 a.m., March 17, Tracey’s St. Patrick’s Day party will have an abundance of green beer, corned beef and cabbage. Following the parade, Parasol’s Block Party will have music, green beer, food and surprises. Last, but not least, there’s the Downtown Irish Club Parade, which will be making several stops on the way to Bourbon Street. The annual parade will begin on the corner of Burgundy and Piety in the Bywater, progress up Royal, across Esplanade to Decatur and up Canal to end at the destination of Bourbon.

Charleston 

Charleston will be starting St. Patrick’s Day celebrations a few days early with a bar crawl on Thursday, March 15. Tickets to the barhop guarantee free admission to several of the city’s top bars, pubs, taverns and saloons. Additionally, this event will have drink specials and hours of shamrock shenanigans. On Friday, Tommy Condon’s will be hosting an all weekend St. Patrick’s Day celebration. The Irish pub will open at 9 a.m. and keep the party going until the early hours of the morning. Additionally, Tommy Condon’s will have music by Emily Deahl, Judson McKinney, The Charleston Pipe Band and Christian Carroll and the Bograts. 

If guests get hungry at the ever-lasting event, they can dine on Irish classic meals like Irish potato chowder, Shepherd’s pie, corned beef and more. On Saturday, Mac’s Place will be hosting a “St. Paddy’s Bash” starting at 10 a.m. with food, drink specials and live entertainment. The drinks that will be featured include green beer, frozen green drinks, shamrock mimosas and many other themed drinks to celebrate the holiday. From 1-3 p.m., there will also be Ginger Irish whiskey tastings.

Nashville  

Nashville is kicking off St. Patrick’s Day weekend with their Kegs and Eggs event at Hard Rock Cafe. Starting at 10:30 a.m., the restaurant will be serving breakfast and ice cold brews to their guests. Nashville’s St. Patrick’s Day’s festivities will continue with The Irish Stroll, an old-fashioned bar crawl. Participating bars will be Buffalo’s Nashville, Pirinah’s, HQ Beercade and Benchmark Sports Bar. The bar crawl will begin at 1 p.m. and last until 3 a.m.

Washington D.C.

Starting at noon, The Watergate Hotel will be hosting a beer garden for their guests. At the event, bottomless Guinness and Guinness Blonde on tap will be served. Additionally, there will be unlimited food and beer until 3 p.m. The food buffet will include Bangers and Mash, fish and chips and many more traditional St. Patrick’s Day pub foods. Following the beer garden, there will be a whiskey tasting event. Guests will be welcomed with a drink and will taste three Irish whiskies as they learn about each spirit.
